Canon 750D and 760D announced with built-in WiFi and NFC

Canon has also introduced two new Rebel-series DSLR cameras, just like one source has accurately predicted. The EOS 750D and EOS 760D are now official as replacements for the EOS 700D.

A lot of rumor and speculation have circulated on the web in recent times, after a mysterious DSLR has been spotted in a promotional video for the Connect Station CS100 storage device that Canon introduced at CES 2015.

Some said that it will be the EOS 80D, which will replace the EOS 70D. Some said that it will become the EOS 750D, while others pointed out that Canon would introduce a new series between the 70D and 700D. Only one source has said that the model in question is the EOS 760D and that it will be announced alongside the EOS 750D.

Well, as it turns out, this is the truth, as the Canon 750D and 760D have just been announced by the Japan-based manufacturer.

The specifications lists of the two DSLRs are very similar, albeit there are some differences between them. Both the Canon 750D and 760D are powered by a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor and a DIGIC 6 image processor.

The cameras feature an ISO sensitivity range between 100 and 12,800, which can be expanded to a maximum of 25,600. Their shutter speed ranges between 30 seconds and 1/4000th of a second.

On the back, users will find a fully-articulated 3-inch 1.04-million-dot LCD touchscreen and a built-in optical viewfinder with a 95% frame coverage.

The focus system consists of a new Hybrid CMOS AF III that includes 19 cross-type AF points delivering quick autofocus during both stills and videos.

The Canon 750D and 760D DSLR cameras come packed with built-in WiFi and NFC, which is a first for all Rebel-series.

A continuous shooting mode of up to 5fps will allow photographers to capture a sequence of shots of fast-moving objects.

As stated above, the Canon 750D and 760D are not identical. The latter is a higher-end version as it offers more features than the former.

The EOS 760D comes packed with an LCD on the top panel. As a result, its dial has been moved to the left of the camera. Moreover, this model features a quick control dial and a horizontal level guide.

Canon has made this version in order to bring extensive video features to upper entry-level photographers. The 760D comes with support for more manual controls during video recording.

Speaking of which, both models are capable of shooting full HD videos at up to 30fps. However, the EOS 760D offers a special HDR movie mode.

The company has also confirmed that the 760D supports digital zoom and features a jack for external stereo microphones.

Finally, the EOS 760D is the first Rebel-series model to support Servo AF in Live View mode. This way, continuous subject-tracking is available when capturing photos in burst mode.
