Another month has passed and there have been a number of exciting announcements and rumors, which is natural as the CP+ 2015 event took place in February 2015. Here are at the best news and rumors of the digital imaging industry from the past month!

Canon, Nikon, and Olympus are just some of the companies that introduced new products in February 2015. Moreover, these are just some of the companies which are rumored to be working on new cameras and lenses. We are taking a look at the best news and rumors of February 2015, in order to find out what you may have missed and what we should expect in the neighboring future.

CP+ 2015 recap: the best cameras and lenses to come out of the event

The first major company to announce new products in February 2015 was Olympus. The company introduced the new E-M5 Mark II, which shoots 40-megapixel photos in high-res mode as well as the 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras and the Air A01 lens-style interchangeable lens camera.

Ricoh confirmed the development of a full frame DSLR, while announcing the 70-200mm f/2.8ED DC AW and 150-450mm f/4.5-5.6ED DC AW lenses for K-mount cameras. In addition, the K-S2 DSLR was unveiled as the world’s smallest weathersealed DSLR along with the 18-50mm f/4-5.6 DC WR RE lens.

Canon 5DS and 5DS R DSLR cameras were announced officially with 50.6-megapixel full frame sensors.

Canon introduced its first big-megapixel DSLRs, called 5DS and 5DS R, while also introducing the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM high-quality lens. The EOS 750D and 760D DSLRs were revealed, too, along with the EOS M3 mirrorless camera.

Sigma announced a new Art-series lens in the body of the 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM wide-angle optic for Canon and Nikon full frame cameras.

Another third-party maker launched some optics of its own. The AT-X 24-70mm f/2.8 PRO FX and AT-X 11-200mm f/2.8 PRO DX lenses are now official, too.

Nikon D810A is the astrophotography version of the D810 and it comes packed with a new infrared cut filter that captures the red emission of nebulae.

Nikon launched a special edition of the D810, called D810A, which was designed for astrophotographers.

Panasonic could not have stood aside to watch while others steal the spotlights, so it unveiled the 30mm f/2.8 Macro and 42.5mm f/1.7 lenses for Micro Four Thirds cameras.

On the rumor mill side, Canon will allegedly refer to the 5D Mark III replacement as 5D X. However, the DSLR will record 4K videos regardless of its name and it is coming this August. On the other hand, the 1D X Mark II is coming in 2016.

The cheaper version of the Fujifilm X-T1, called X-T10, is rumored to come without weathersealing, unlike its bigger sibling.

Fujifilm fans could be in for a few treats, as the first X-T10 details showed up on the web, while the manufacturer’s reps revealed some details about the X-Pro2 at CP+ 2015.

Nikon is believed to be working on the D5, its flagship DSLR, which is expected to show up by the end of 2015. The 1 J5 mirrorless camera is rumored to be announced in March 2015.

Sony NEX-7 is rumored to be replaced by a mirrorless camera with in-body 5-axis image stabilization technology, called A7000.

It was a quiet month for Sony fans, as the company made no single official announcement. However, the company will announce new products soon. The A5 entry-level full frame mirrorless camera will become official in March, while the A7000 APS-C mirrorless camera is also coming within a few weeks.

Adobe is expected to introduce the Lightroom 6 image-processing software in early March. Finally, Sigma is supposed to be working on an 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens.
