Sony has announced the three prime lenses that people have been expecting since Photokina 2014. The new FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro, 28mm f/2, and Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 are now official for FE-mount full frame mirrorless cameras along with a few converters.

One of the major complaints that photographers have regarding Sony’s FE-mount is the thin lens line-up. However, the company is beefing up its offer with three new Sony prime lenses and a couple of converters.

The new FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS, FE 28mm f/2, and the Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA lenses will be released in the near future, in an attempt to diversify the optical portfolio for photographers using Sony Alpha E-mount mirrorless cameras.

As its name is suggesting, the Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens has been designed for macro photography. This telephoto prime optic will deliver crisp clear images with beautiful out-of-focus backgrounds. It offers 1:1 magnification rate and it comes with a focus ring that allows users to override the autofocus and to switch to manual focus in an instant.

The lens employs an integrated Optical SteadyShot image stabilization technology, which is useful in macro photography and at telephoto focal lengths. Beside macro, Sony says that photographers can use this optic in portrait photography, as it delivers a shallow depth of field.

Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens will be released this July for $1,100. It is available for pre-order right now at Amazon.

The Sony FE 28mm f/2 lens is a wide-angle prime model that has been designed for landscape photographers who shoot in low-light conditions. The company says that its bright aperture will allow users to shoot without a tripod in poorly-lit environments, including indoors.

The company says that this model provides edge-to-edge image sharpness and superior image quality thanks to its multi-coated surfaces that reduce ghosting and flare. Its focusing system is based on an inner focus mechanism, which delivers quiet autofocusing.

Sony will release the FE 28mm f/2 wide-angle prime lens this May for a price of $450. Photographers can already pre-order the product via Amazon.
