Olympus will begin shipping the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO ultra wide-angle zoom lens in late July or early August, while the 8mm f/1.8 PRO fisheye lens is expected to become available within the same timeframe.
More than one year has passed since Olympus confirmed the development of the 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens at the CP+ 2014 event. At the 2015 edition of the CP+ show, the company also announced the development of the 8mm f/1.8 PRO fisheye lens, while stating that both models will be released on the market during summer 2015.
Micro Four Thirds fans are definitely interested to get a more accurate timeframe, so they have to retort to the rumor mill for these details. The latest gossip talks are suggesting that the ultra wide-angle zoom lens will become available in July or August, while the shipment of the fisheye model will begin around the same time.
Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens release date scheduled to take place later this summer
The Four Thirds organization has added both the 7-14mm f/2.8 and 8mm f/1.8 optics to the matching simulator, which simulates what the lenses look like when mounted on your Micro Four Thirds camera.
This is a sign that the products are close to being released. A lot of people are hoping that they will be able to purchase these products as of this June. However, it seems like the Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO lens release date is set for late July or early August.
The optic will begin shipping to retailers in June, while the official product launch event will also take place sometime during the first month of the summer. Nevertheless, the retailers will be able to sell the lens to you during the third quarter of the year.
Olympus 8mm f/1.8 PRO fisheye lens will become available around the same timeframe
The situation may be similar to the one of the Olympus 8mm f/1.8 PRO lens. This fisheye model is officially scheduled to be released during the summer, but it will not become available to a store near you before the later days of July.
An official announcement will be set for June, while the product will be up for grabs in July or August. There is not too much time left until then, which means that Micro Four Thirds users should start saving some money right now, as both models will be a bit pricey.
When it becomes available, the 8mm version will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent of 16mm. On the other hand, the 7-14mm model will offer a full frame equivalent of 14-28mm. Stay close to Camyx for more Olympus rumors!
