The Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens is rumored to be announced on April 16 and its specs, photo, and price have been leaked on the web before its purported launch event.

Fujifilm will expand its X-mount line-up on April 16 with a 16mm lens, which was added to the official roadmap back in 2014. Mock-up units of this optic have been displayed at various digital imaging events, but the real deal is coming out soon.

Ahead of the official announcement event, inside sources have leaked some specifications and price details of the Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens, while revealing the first press photo of the product.

This is the Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens, which will become official on April 16.

Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens rumored to cost $1,150

Fuji’s upcoming wide-angle lens will be weather-resistant, meaning that users will be able to take photos in dusty environments or when it starts raining. Moreover, it should operate without any problems at a temperature as low as -10 degrees Celsius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

Its weather resistance makes it perfect for the X-T1 mirrorless camera, although it could prove to be a costly kit. Amazon is selling the Fuji X-T1 for a price around $1,200, while the Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens is rumored to become available for about $1,150.

An exact release date has not been provided, but the product has been previously said to be released by the end of the second quarter of the year, just in time for the summer vacation.

Some of its specs have been leaked before official launch event

The leaked photo reveals that the lens comes with Nano-GI coating which modifies the refractive index between the air in front of the front element and the glass, so that ghosting and flare are reduced to the minimum.

The lens will come with focus and aperture dings as well as with a 67mm filter thread. Secondary aperture steps are marked on the lens, making it easier for photographers to focus manually. This could be useful in low-light conditions, allowing users to properly capture long-exposure photos.

Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR lens will be compatible with all X-mount mirrorless cameras and it will offer a full-frame equivalent of about 24mm. It is worth noting that the lens does not appear to be bulky, so it will not become a burden for the users. Stay tuned to Camyx for the official announcement!
