Zeiss has officially announced a new series of autofocus lenses for Sony FE-mount mirrorless cameras. It is called Batis and the first two models, the 25mm f/2 and 85mm f/1.8, will be released this summer.

A new wide-angle Loxia-series lens has been rumored to be in development and Zeiss has already confirmed its existence and has promised that it is coming by the end of 2015. However, instead of the Loxia unit, the Germany-based company has launched a new line-up for Sony FE-mount cameras, a new series that supports autofocus, unlike Loxia models. Without further ado, here are the new Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 and 25mm f/2 lenses for FE-mount mirrorless cameras with full-frame image sensors.

Zeiss introduces Batis-series autofocus lenses for Sony FE-mount cameras

Batis is the first lens series developed entirely by Zeiss for Sony FE-mount cameras to support autofocus, says that announcement. These products have been created by the German company and they will also be distributed only by Zeiss, without any input from Sony.

FE-mount shooters are some of the most innovative models on the market, so they are a priority for the legendary manufacturer. The Batis optics are here to provide cutting-edge image quality along with an autofocus system that is quick and trustworthy.

The maker promises that the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 and 25mm f/2 lenses will meet the demands of professional photographers. The maker states that beginner along with amateur photographers will not regret the investment if they purchase either one of these products.
