The first photo of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens has been leaked on the web along with some specifications of the optic, which is bound to become official in the near future.

Canon has been rumored to launch new 50mm gear for a long time. The first model to emerge was supposed to be the one with a maximum aperture of f/1.8.

It should have been unveiled in the first quarter of 2015 and released by the end of April 2015. It seems like the Japan-based company has decided to delay the process for a while, as the product is not here, yet.

The markings on the lens have changed and they come with the company’s latest font. A dark silver ring now goes around the optic, while the focus ring appears to be bigger and more comfortable to use.

There is an AF/MF switch on the optic, while an aperture ring is missing. Another thing that is missing is image stabilization technology, which is something that the rumor mill has already predicted.

Canon will announce the EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens soon
