A set of new Canon EOS 6D Mark II details has appeared on the web, revealing that the DSLR camera will be smaller, lighter, and pricier than its predecessor.

Canon is working on a number of new cameras that will be announced in very late 2015 or in early 2016. On the list you can find the 5D Mark IV, 1D X Mark IV, Rebel SL2 / EOS 150D, and the 6D Mark II.

The latter has returned to the rumor mill after a month-long hiatus with new information about it as well as a confirmation about previously-mentioned details. It appears that Canon will definitely raise the status of the EOS 6D Mark II, which will also be more expensive than the 6D.

Canon will raise the rank of the 6D Mark II when compared to the 6D, as the camera will get new features and will become pricier.

Canon’s 6D Mark II expected to be more expensive than its predecessor

One of the earlier rumors about the Canon 6D replacement said that the device will shed the low-end status and will rank up. There was no information regarding the new low-end unit, but the EOS 6D Mark II was said to have a bigger price at launch than its predecessor.

Similar things are now being reported by a trusted source, who is claiming that the upcoming unit will move up the market and that it will get new features, albeit it will not become a “groundbreaking” model.

The exact price details are still unknown. The 6D was launched with a $2,099 price tag, so the 6D Mark II will be more expensive than that. Currently, the 6D can be found at Amazon for about $1,400.

EOS 6D Mark II to employ mysterious connectivity feature

The source has revealed other details about the EOS 6D Mark II. It appears that Canon is aiming to make it smaller and lighter than the 6D. The company wants to achieve this without compromising the quality of the build.

It is worth noting that the increase in price will be attributed to miniaturization, but we will find out whether this is true or not when the DSLR becomes official.

As for its specs list, the full-frame sensor of the camera will be new and will not be found in other cameras. The megapixel size is still debatable with sources mentioning both 24 and 28 megapixels units.

Canon will definitely put NFC into the EOS 6D Mark II. WiFi is not mentioned by the source, but a different, unnamed connectivity tool is, so we will have to wait and see what this is all about.

The announcement event of the DSLR will not occur in 2015. If everything works as intended, then the EOS 6D Mark II will be introduced in early 2016. Stay tuned for more!
