A set of new details regarding the upcoming FX-mount flagship DSLR, called Nikon D5, have been leaked on the web, including some of its specifications.

The first rumors concerning the Nikon D5 appeared online at the beginning of 2015. However, the gossip mill has gone quiet after that, thus no new information about the future FX-mount flagship camera has been leaked.

The good thing is that a trusted source has just revealed some new Nikon D5 specs that will sound exciting to the company’s fans. Among the most interesting details we can find 4K video recording and a 2-stop higher ISO sensitivity than its predecessor.

New Nikon D5 specs leaked: 4K video recording and 2-stop higher native ISO

Nikon D4s is a minor refresh of the D4, but things will change when the D5 becomes official. The new DSLR will be a major upgrade over the current generation and it will employ a brand new 20-megapixel full-frame image sensor.

The sensor will offer superior low-light performance and video recording capabilities. According to a reliable source, the native ISO sensitivity of the D5 will stand at 102,400 and its maximum video recording resolution will stand at 4K.

The D4s comes with a native ISO sensitivity of 25,600, which can be expanded up to 409,600, but this does not mean that the D5 will be capable of achieving an extended ISO of 1,638,400. As for video performance, the D4s can shoot videos at up to full HD resolution.

Upcoming Nikon FX-mount flagship DSLR to offer 15fps burst mode

The Nikon D5 specs list will include a brand new image processor. Earlier this year, Fujitsu Milbeaut ISP has transitioned into Socionext, a company which has introduced a MN2WS03101A chipset that provides 4K video support.

Since Fujitsu supplied Nikon its EXPEED processors, it is likely that Socionext will continue the legacy and that the aforementioned chip will be found in the D5.

In addition to better video performance, the upcoming processor will offer a faster continuous shooting mode. The source is reporting that the D5 will be capable of capturing up to 15fps in burst mode, up from the 11fps of the D4s.

Nikon to reveal D5 in late 2015 or early 2016

Previously, we learned that the D4s replacement would employ a similar design with a new autofocus system consisting of 173 points.

Nikon is planning to unveil the D5 later in 2015, but the source admits that the announcement date could slip into early 2016.
