The upcoming Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II mirrorless camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor is now rumored to come packed with a fully-electronic shutter.

It has been recently revealed that Olympus will announce a new OM-D-series Micro Four Thirds camera in the near future. The device has been expected to show up this week, however, it might have been delayed for some reason.

Until its official launch, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II continues to be mentioned within the rumor mill. The latest bit of information to show up online consists of the mirrorless camera’s shutter. According to a highly-trusted source, the new model will employ an electronic shutter, which is something unavailable in its predecessor.

Olympus E-M10 Mark II will feature an electronic shutter, which is a new addition compared to its predecessor.

Olympus will introduce the E-M10 replacement soon. The name of the next-generation model will be E-M10 Mark II, as revealed by Postel, the agency where the Japan-based company has registered its device.

Inside sources are claiming that the new camera will not be a major improvement over its forerunner. However, there will be some notable changes, including the design, as seen in the recently-leaked photos of the shooter.

One of the enhancements will consist of an electronic shutter. The E-M10 uses a mechanical shutter with a maximum speed of 1/4000th of a second. The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II will feature a fully-electronic shutter, whose maximum speed has yet to be revealed, alongside the mechanical one.

The addition of an electronic shutter mode will translate into faster shutter speeds. In turn, a quicker shutter means that photographers can capture stills with very bright apertures even in broad daylight.

This is the only new details, but the mirrorless camera’s official announcement is not very far away, so we will find out its full specs list soon.

Upcoming Micro Four Thirds camera will have 16MP sensor and built-in WiFi

Although it is close to its launch, the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II has not been mentioned too many times within the gossip mill. So far, we have learned that the camera will feature the same 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor as its predecessor.

Furthermore, it will come packed with WiFi connectivity, just like the E-M10 before it. A built-in electronic viewfinder will be available, too, just like an integrated flash.

The new design will bring revamped buttons and dials, while the whole camera looks sturdier. Either way, do not expect any revolutionary features in the E-M10 Mark II as they are reserved for the E-M1 Mark II next year.
