Canon is once again rumored to be developing a videography version of the 5DX, which will be released on the market under the 5DC moniker.

The Canon 5D Mark III replacement saga is entering a new chapter today, as a source is now claiming that the DSLR’s successor will be split into two different models.

A source has recently debunked the rumors that there will be two more 5D-series DSLRs being released on the market. The gossips have been labeled “fictional”, while the insider said that only the 5DX will come out and will do so by the end of this year.

Well, it appears that the Japan-based manufacturer will launch a true successor with a 28-megapixel sensor for still photographers as well as a videography version that will employ an 18-megapixel sensor.

The Canon 5DS and 5DS R DSLRs will be joined by two more 5D-series cameras called 5DX and 5DC.

New Canon 5DX specs leaked on the web

The new information is coming from a source who has leaked Canon-related details in the past. It appears that the EOS 5DX will come packed with a 28-megapixel full-frame sensor.

This DSLR will employ Dual Pixel CMOS AF III technology for quicker focusing in Live View mode as well as a brand new and improved autofocus system.

Canon’s upcoming camera will also feature the Anti-Flickr technology added into the EOS 7D Mark II. This system ensures a consistent exposure when capturing photos in burst mode.

A crop mode will be added into the EOS 5DX and it will be similar to the one available in the EOS 5DS and 5DS R models. The big-megapixel pair offers 1.3x and 1.6x options in crop mode, allowing users to capture photos at a smaller resolutions than the sensor’s native resolution.

Action and wildlife photographers will be pleased to find out that the continuous shooting mode of the Canon 5DX will reach 12fps at full resolution.

On the other hand, low-light photographers will make use of the maximum ISO sensitivity of 409,600. The native ISO range will be 100-204,800, but it can be expanded up to the aforementioned value.

The announcement event of the camera will take place at Canon Expo 2015 or at PhotoPlus Expo 2015 this fall.

Canon 5DC is real and will become official with plenty of features for videographers

Today’s rumor marks the return of the Canon 5DC to the gossip mill. A source said many months ago that we might see four 5D-series models on the market. It was said that there would be two big-megapixel cameras, one to replace the 5D Mark III, and another one for videographers.

Nevertheless, after the introduction of the 5DS and 5DS R, a different source said that this was not the case. The insider claimed that only the 5DX would join the market. Well, plans change all the time and it seems like the Canon 5DC is real.

The DSLR will reportedly feature an 18-megapixel full-frame sensor capable of recording videos at 4K resolution. The frame rate is unknown, but the ISO sensitivity will range between 100 and 204,800.

The autofocus system will have 61 focus points, while Dual Pixel CMOS AF III technology will also be available in this camera. Beside these tools, several new and Cinema EOS-borrowed video-related features will be added into the Canon 5DC.

Its announcement date is not mentioned. However, it will most likely be introduced alongside the 5DX if it is indeed real. Stay tuned for further details!
