Fujifilm has allegedly delayed the launch of its new flash until sometime in 2016 due to encountering many problems in the process, including the Metz insolvency.

One of the best mirrorless camera line-ups out there is Fujifilm’s X-mount. This system is offering several cameras and a strong lens roster, while the overall image quality is quite impressive. However, there is one thing that the company gets wrong: the flash system.

The biggest complaint received by Fuji from professional photographers refers to the poor flash line-up. The EF-42 is the only flash gun available for the users, while the EF-20 and EF-X20 are small flashes which are not enough to be considered “good”.

Fuji was supposed to launch a new flash and a new flash technology by the end of 2014. For some unknown reasons, the new products were delayed into 2015, said the rumor mill. Unfortunately, it seems like another delay will cause the new flash to become available sometime in 2016.

New Fujifilm flash is now rumored to be released on the market in 2016 instead of 2015

Trusted sources said that German company Metz will create the new flash for Fujifilm X-mount cameras. However, the manufacturer filed for insolvency in late 2014, so the delay has had something to do with this ordeal.

While Metz is slowly coming back to file under new ownership, Fuji is searching for a new company to create a flash gun. As a result, there is no way the flash is coming out by the end of 2015.

Fujifilm EF-42 is the only true flash gun available for X-series cameras. Fuji will allegedly fix this shortcoming in the first half of 2016.

A source is stating that the Japan-based company will finally release a new flash during the first half of 2016. The specifications of the new Fujifilm flash are unknown, but we can only hope that they will be a lot better than what is currently available for X-mount and X-series camera owners.

Fuji is also working on the X-Pro2 and X200 cameras

In the not-so-distant future, Fujifilm will replace its flagship cameras. This means that the X-Pro2 will succeed the X-Pro1 mirrorless camera, while the X200 will substitute the X100T fixed-lens compact.

Both units will reportedly employ the same APS-C-sized sensor that will consist of a 24-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III unit. The company is not making the jump to full-frame for now, says the rumor mill, so we will have to wait for further details.

Beside these two high-profile models, Fuji will most likely introduce new lenses and lower-end compact cameras as well. Stay tuned to Camyx for the official announcements!
