Tamron is rumored to announce two new prime lenses with 35mm and 45mm focal lengths as well as a bright maximum aperture of f/1.8 for full-frame DSLR cameras.

An all-round zoom lens for DSLRs with APS-C sensors was introduced by Tamron in early August 2015. The 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC has become official as the lightest all-round zoom optic in the world.

The next few days will reveal a shift in focus from Tamron, as the Japanese third-party lens manufacturer will unveil a couple of bright prime lenses for DSLRs with full-frame sensors. A trusted source has revealed that both the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD optics will be announced sometime in the very near future.

A couple of new Tamron prime lenses coming soon

The first of the upcoming Tamron duo is the SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens. This prime model will be released in Canon, Nikon, and Sony mounts and it will cover full-frame sensors.

Sigma is offering a 35mm f/1.8 lens in the form of the 18-35mm f/1.8 Art model. Tamron will launch a 35mm f/1.8 lens and it will have to be cheap to compete against Sigma’s unit.

The optic will employ a built-in Vibration Compensation image stabilization technology that will also receive help from the bright aperture. This optic will be ideal for low-light shooting including when the users capture photos indoors. It is worth noting that the Sony version will not have VC technology, which is common with third-party lenses from Tamron as well as Sigma.

Its designation confirms that the product will feature a Ultrasonic Silent Drive that will deliver quick as well as silent autofocusing. No details about the price and internal configuration have been leaked, so we will probably find them out during its launch event.

Tamron’s second lens has an uncanny 45mm focal length

Just like its aforementioned sibling, the full specifications or pricing information of the SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens have not been revealed. However, its name confirms that this optic will have an unusual 45mm focal length, a maximum aperture of f/1.8, USD autofocus motor, and integrated image stabilization technology.

The source also confirmed that it will be released in Canon, Nikon, and Sony mounts, with the mention that the latter will not offer a VC mechanism.

Out of the two new Tamron prime lenses, the 45mm stands out because it has an uncommon focal length. Usually, optics have a 50mm focal length, while 40mm units are also available on the market.

It will be interesting to see consumers’ reaction to this product, therefore we are inviting you to stay tuned to Camyx for the official announcement!
