The rumors regarding the Fujifilm medium format camera have returned, as another insider is stating that such device is on its way, while revealing its megapixel count and launch timeframe.

The last time we spoke about a medium format camera was in May 2015, when the main subject was also a Fujifilm-branded model. Back then, it was said that the company wants to keep everything a secret and that this was the reason why so little was known about it.

Unfortunately, 2015 ended without any confirmations regarding the development of the camera. Moreover, the first couple of months of this year produced identical results. However, it seems like the project is still underway, as a source is claiming that the Fujifilm medium format camera is real and coming in 2017.

The latest information is coming from a new source, which means that readers will have to take it with a grain of salt. Additionally, we have to say that you should not draw any conclusions, yet, as it is best to keep your options open.

The Pentax 645Z will be just one competitor for the Fujifilm medium format camera when it becomes available in 2017.

It appears that Fujifilm is really developing a medium format camera. The product will feature a large 50-megapixel image sensor that will be made by Sony. Its exact dimensions are unknown, but it will definitely be placed in the MF territory.

Fuji will not release the shooter by the end of 2016, albeit it might be unveiled this year. Nevertheless, the device will become available for purchase sometime in 2017.

Although it is not much, at least we have heard something about its sensor. In the past, some sources said that the Fuji medium format camera will feature an organic sensor built by the Japanese company itself.

The new rumors are contradicting earlier ones, but we might hear something about it at Photokina 2016. The reason for that is because a different source is stating that the device is scheduled to become official at the world’s largest event in Germany this September.

Still, we remind you that this is a rumor and should be treated as such. Another doubtful thing is the camera type. Some say that the Fuji medium format camera is an interchangeable lens unit, while the new source has not specified its type.

Other gossip talks from the past suggested that some X-mount optics can cover larger sensors. If they cannot cover MF sensors, then Fujifilm will also have to introduce a new lens format.
