Panasonic LX200 specs already leaked online

Panasonic is rumored to be working on a new compact camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor. The device will replace the LX100 and it is believed to be called LX200.

The Photokina 2014 event presented a fixed-lens camera with a large image sensor from one of the Micro Four Thirds giants. Panasonic revealed the LX100 at the world’s biggest digital imaging event with a slew of exciting features, including WiFi and 4K video recording capabilities.

Almost two years have passed since the introduction of the camera, therefore some people feel that there is a need for a replacement. According to the rumor mill, the Japanese company will deliver soon, as the Panasonic LX200 specs have been leaked on the web.

Leaked Panasonic LX200 specs reveal several improvements over older generation

Panasonic will fix some of the inconveniences of the LX100 courtesy of the LX200. The camera is competing against the Sony RX100 and Canon PowerShot G7 X series, so it must come with several improvements in order to remain relevant in the premium compact camera segment.

Panasonic will replace the LX100 with the LX200 and will put a higher-resolution sensor in the new model.

The upcoming shooter will allegedly employ a 20-megapixel Live MOS image sensor that will be manufactured by Sony. It is unclear whether it will keep its Micro Four Thirds format or if it will be a 1-inch-type sensor, like the one found in the RX100 and G7 X cameras.

Moreover, the device will come packed with a flash and a neutral density filter. Both these options are absent from the LX100, but they are available in the RX100 IV and in the original G7 X. For some reason, it appears that Canon has removed the ND filter in the G7 X Mark II.

The list of improvements continues with support for an autofocus system with Depth-by-Defocus technology, which will allow the camera to focus in as little as 0.07 seconds.

The Panasonic LX200 specs list will also include a maximum ISO sensitivity of 51200 (up from 25600 in the LX100). The touchscreen and OLED viewfinder on the back will both be tiltable, as opposed to fixed like in the previous generation.

Finally, users will have more special effects at their disposal, allowing them to edit photos on the go. Overall, it sounds like the camera will get much needed features in order to make it a complete device that photographers will enjoy.

There are no words regarding the camera’s availability. However, it is possible that the shooter is coming around Photokina 2016. The LX100 was released in November 2014 for a price a little under the $900 mark. Stay tuned for more information!
