Google has announced that the Nik Collection plugins are now free to download for all users, allowing image-editing enthusiasts to save about $150 in the process.

Nik Software was the maker of some amazing image-editing plugins before being purchased by Google in September 2012. These professional tools were available for Apple’s Aperture and Adobe’s Photoshop and Lightroom software.

After buying it, the search giant announced Nik Collection by Google, a bundle that consisted of all plugins for a price of $149. Before the announcement in March 2013, the plugins were priced at about $100 each, while the entire collection was sold for $500.

Well, it is time for Google to slash the price of the software once again. As stated above, the bundle used to cost $149, but it is now $149 cheaper, meaning that you can download Nik Collection for free.

It is worth noting that HDR Efex Pro 2 will not work in Photoshop CS4, as it is compatible with CS5 and CS6 versions. Additionally, HDR Efex Pro 2 will not work in Photoshop Elements because it is not supported by this tool.

The plugins support GPU acceleration and are compatible with the Nvidia GeForce 8 series or newer as well as with Radeon HD2000 or newer graphics cards.

The company’s announcement also says that people who bought the plugins in 2016 will be reimbursed. They should receive their money automatically within a few days. Head over to Google’s website in order to download Nik Collection for free.
