Fujifilm has introduced the XP120 rugged compact camera at CES 2017, while the whole world is still waiting for more news regarding the GFX 50S medium format camera.

If you live in a place where it snows a lot or if you enjoy swimming, then you will need to take a weatherproof camera with you. Fujifilm believes that all you need is its new FinePrix XP120, a rugged compact camera that will be the perfect companion in your outdoor adventures.

Before its release date, we are taking a look at the things that the Fujifilm XP1200 will offer to its users. Here are the latest details coming from the Consumer Electronics Show 2017!

Fujifilm XP120 unveiled at CES 2017 as a weatherproof compact camera

Fuji’s upcoming FinePix XP120 camera captures photos using a 16.4-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS image sensor. In the front, there is a 5x optical zoom lens that delivers a full-frame focal length equivalent from 28mm to 140mm.

Fujifilm XP120 features a 16.4MP image sensor.

This compact shooter can be used for wide-angle photography, such as landscapes, as well as for portraiture, where telephoto focal lengths come in handy. Whatever you choose to use it for, the Fujifilm XP120 offers a Cinemagraph tool, that allows users to shoot images with elements that move.

As we are talking about a rugged device, it is time to find out just how tough it is. The camera is dustproof, freezeproof to temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius / 14 degrees Fahrenheit, shockproof to drops from 1.75 meters / 5.7 feet, and waterproof down to depths of 20 meters / 65 feet.

The only way to frame photos using the Fujifilm XP120 is through its 3-inch LCD, meaning that it does not have a built-in viewfinder. For users who do not want to bother with exposure settings, Fuji has added a Scene Recognition Mode, which evaluates the scene and then chooses the best focus, shutter, and exposure settings.

Fujifilm XP120 comes packed with built-in WiFi.

A Remote Shooting tool is available using the camera’s WiFi technology. It can be connected to a smartphone or tablet, thus allowing users to trigger the shutter among other things.

Getting creative is easy with the FinePix XP120, as it offers a burst mode of up to 10fps, Interval Timer Shooting and Time Lapse Video, 11 still filters, 7 movie filters, and Motion Panorama 360.

Fuji will release the XP120 in Blue, Green, Sky Blue, and Yellow color choices in late February 2017 for a price of $229.95.
