Adobe Camera RAW 8.7 RC update only brings new camera and lens support for Photoshop CS6 users

When the Creative Suite has been abandoned, Adobe has decided to move over to the Creative Cloud. As a result, Photoshop CS6 users will only get limited support, which consists of compatibility with new cameras and lens profiles.

As a result, the changelog Camera RAW 8.7 Release Candidate version for Photoshop CS6 only includes support for some new products.

According to Adobe, the newly-supported cameras are Nikon D750, Sony A5100, Sony QX1, Fujifilm X30, Mamiya Leaf Credo 50, Panasonic GM1S, Casio EX-100PRO, and Leica V-Lux Typ 114.

As for the new lens profiles, the list includes the Tokina AT-X 11-16mm f/2.8 PRO for Canon and Nikon DSLRs, HandeVision Ibelux 40mm f/0.85 for Fujifilm X-mount and Sony E-mount cameras, and the SLR Magic 50mm T0.95 Hyperprime Cine for Leica M-mount and Sony E-mount cameras.

Photoshop CC subscribers will notice a performance improvement as of Camera RAW 8.7 RC version

If you are a Photoshop CC user, then you are getting a few extra improvements when compared to the CS6 users. Adobe has confirmed that Intel and AMD processors released in 2011 or later are better supported, so image editors should notice an increase in performance.

For Windows users with HiDPI screens, the Camera RAW dialog will be scaled when the UI scale is set to 200%. The company says that this leads to some issues, which could force photographers to re-launch Photoshop CC after enabling the setting.

Additionally, HiDPI will not work when the users choose to host Camera RAW in Bridge. Finally, it appears that some UI elements will flash when being dragged or when using the gradient tool.

Photoshop CC subscribers can download the Camera RAW 8.7 RC update at the company’s official site.
