Adobe has announced the new Photoshop CC with new features, updates to Creative Cloud, and has also announced that Creative Suite 6 will not get a successor at the Adobe MAX “Creativity Conference”.

Adobe MAX is a conference where the software developer reveals new products and plans. This year, the company has surprised everyone by announcing that its Creative Suite 6 will not be replaced by a physical successor. Instead, the software giant has decided to concentrate its efforts on Creative Cloud.

Adobe kills Creative Suite, chooses to focus on Creative Cloud

Adobe CS is one of the most used editing suites in the world. However, the company is looking to move everything into the cloud with the help of Creative Cloud.

Customers will not longer be able to buy future versions of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and others on CDs / DVDs or download them, as they will have to pay for a monthly subscription.

Adobe Photoshop CC becomes official and an integral part of Creative Cloud

In order to attract more customers, Adobe announced Photoshop CC, which is a more featured version of Photoshop CS6. It comes packed with the new deblurring filter, called Camera Shake Reduction.

This tool allows users to remove the blur in their photos, thus recovering images otherwise lost forever. Additionally, the Smart Sharpen filter gives editors the possibility of reducing noise, in order to increase sharpness.

Adobe adds Camera RAW 8 to Creative Cloud, too

Adobe Camera RAW 8 is now a part of Photoshop CC. It will also be available through Adobe’s Creative Cloud subscription with improved Advanced Healing Brush, Radial Gradient, and Upright tools.

Photographers will be able to make changes to RAW files without opening the Camera RAW 8 window. Adobe claims that Creative Cloud should release the burden from your computer, since everything will run in the cloud, though we should let the users be the judges.

Lightroom remains a standalone app

The good thing is that Lightroom will continue to be offered as a standalone physical application. The final version of Adobe Lightroom 5 should be released in the near future, along with the features found in Camera RAW 8.

It is worth noting that Photoshop CC will be the only version of the software. There will be no more Extended options, meaning that tools such as 3D image editing and analysis will be present in the cloud as well.

Adobe CS6 users will continue to receive support, though the suite will be discontinued at some point into the future, while any idea of CS7 is gone forever.

Adobe Photoshop CC or any other Creative Cloud application will become available for $19.99 per month. Access to the full list of apps will cost $49.99 per month, though it will require an annual commitment.

The company says that loyal customers will be offered special discounts. Adobe CS3 through CS5.5 buyers will pay $29.99 per month for complete services, while CS6 owners will only pay a monthly fee of $19.99.

If you own only one volume of CS3 or later (until CS5.5), you will have to pay $39.99 per month for a year.

Meanwhile, Adobe Photoshop CS6 is still available for purchase at Amazon for $620.
