Yet another Canon 7D Mark II rumor points at a 2014 launch

A new Canon 7D Mark II rumor confirms some previous information claiming that the DSLR camera will be announced and released in the first half of 2014.

A lot of photographers have hoped for this not to be true. They have been expecting Canon to replace the EOS 7D sometime this year. However, a source has been claiming for a while now that we shall not see any “EOS” gear by the end of the year, as the company’s big plans will become official in 2014.

After debunking the EOS M2 2013 release date, a new Canon 7D Mark II rumor is here and it practically reaffirms what many of us have been thinking for a long time.

The new information says that the camera will become official sometime in the first half of next year. Additionally, the DSLR will hit the shelves shortly after its unveiling and this date also happens to fall in 1H 2014.

Some other information is also getting confirmed by this source. It appears that the Canon 7D Mark II specs list will include the largest LCD screen ever added to one of the company’s cameras.

Furthermore, it will be marketed as a professional DSLR with an APS-C image sensor, which does not come as a surprise, considering the fact that this is exactly what the 7D has been for the past four years.

As a result, the shooter will become available for a price revolving around $2,000. The EOS 7D is currently available for $1,499 at Amazon.

GPS, WiFi, Dual Pixel CMOS AF technologies will all be present in the 7D Mark II

The source has added that the Canon 7D Mark II will become packed with both GPS and WiFi technologies.

A new autofocus system will be added, too, and will make its way into the big-megapixel full frame EOS 1 camera that is scheduled to be introduced next year.

Two sensor prototypes are currently being tested: one with 20.2 megapixels and another one with 24 megapixels. Both come with EOS 70D-like Dual Pixel CMOS AF, so it is very likely that the 24MP version will be chosen, as Canon would not want the 7DMk2 to have so many similarities with the 70D.
