Apple reveals iOS 7 with new and flat design at WWDC 2013

Just like all updates, iOS 7 is a major upgrade over the previous version and it is considered the biggest redesign since the iPhone debuted back in 2007. The new operating system has been streamlined and made to look like a flat surface, thus following the same trend as Google, Microsoft, and BlackBerry.

Although Apple has been accused of copying others, many other companies have also copied the iPhone maker in the past. This is the way things go and this is how innovation works, as you take one thing and make it better.

Photos and Camera apps have been completely redesigned

Anyway, the new iOS 7 design has also hit the Camera and Photos applications. If iPhone users enjoyed taking pictures on their smartphone, then the new app will definitely be more appealing than before.

The new Camera app design looks good, but it also comes packed with new features, including the ability to capture more types of panoramas. Square-like panoramic photos can now be taken and users will be able to apply filters and effects directly in the app, just like they would do on Instagram.

Apple’s new Photos app is also one worth opening time and time again. It has been revamped to include several sections. The new version comes packed with the so-called Collections.

The Collections will organize your images based on Years, so that users will see photos from a specific time. Moreover, the Years will feature a subcategory called Moments. This one arranges photos based on the location they have been taken. However, if you spent more days in the same location, per example on vacation, then a specific Moment will include all images captured throughout your holiday.

iOS 7 with AirDrop, iTunes Radio, and more coming this fall

iOS 7 will provide AirDrop, a feature allowing users to share multimedia content via WiFi or Bluetooth without too much hassle, thus reducing the need for NFC.

Apple’s latest operating system will also bring an updated Notifications Center, a Control Center (like the one found in Android devices), improved Safari, multitasking for all applications, new Siri with Bing support, and iTunes Radio, a music streaming service like Pandora.

iOS 7 release date has been scheduled for fall 2013 and it will be compatible with iPhone 4 or higher, iPad 2 or higher, and the latest version of iPod Touch.
