April is over now and this means that it is about time we take a closer look at the most important rumors and news featured on Camyx during the fourth month of 2014.

This is a time when rumors are more “popular” than the actual “news”. Companies are talking, analyzing, and planning more cautiously than ever before, so we had not been graced with as many announcements in April 2014 as we have hoped.

Nevertheless, we have had some pretty interesting camera rumors and news in April 2014. As usual, Sony and Canon have been the most discussed companies, although only one of them has actually made an official announcement.

Sony launched the A77II and A7S cameras in April 2014

The month has begun with inside sources leaking more Sony A77II specs. It is worth pointing out that some of words have turned out to be bogus when Sony revealed the A77 II A-mount camera at the beginning of May.

Nevertheless, a small update in mid-April has corrected the rumors and has been a more accurate depiction of the new shooter.

Another rumor about Sony has been popular among industry watchers. It refers to the A7S mirrorless camera with 4K video recording abilities, which has eventually become official during the NAB Show 2014.

Speaking of the NAB Show 2014, DJI Innovations has launched the Phantom 2 Vision+ during the event with some minor improvements for people who enjoy aerial photography.

Canon said to unveil 7D Mark II, 750D, and 150D DSLR cameras in Q3 2014

As stated above, Canon is also attracting a lot of interest when it comes to rumors. The most popular post consists of a patent for a new EF 24-70mm f/2.8 IS lens. This is the company’s fourth patent for such lens, so it remains to be seen whether or not the zoom lens is coming on the market.

At the beginning of April 2014, the rumor mill has speculated that Canon would launch the 7D Mark II DSLR sometime in May. However, an update to the rumor published in mid-April says that the camera has been delayed until Q3 2014.

The good thing about that is that the 7D replacement will be released alongside two other DSLRs, such as the 750D and the 150D. This is why we should look forward to the Photokina 2014, where the Canon EOS M3 is also expected to make a cameo.

Nikon introduced two cameras and a lens in April, while many other cameras are coming this summer

Nikon deserves a special mention because it appears that the company has finally decided to replace the D300s. With Canon launching the 7D Mark II this year, the Nikon D9300 will succeed the D300s with new and exciting features.

This summer will see Nikon unveiling the D7200 roughly one year after the launch of the D7100. Additionally, the Japan-based maker should also launch the D800s and some Coolpix cameras, such as the P700.

As for the official announcements, Nikon has launched the 1 J4 mirrorless camera, the Coolpix S810c Android-powered camera, and the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR lens.

Samyang, Pentax, Mitakon, Sigma, and Tamron made announcements, while Fujifilm was on gossipers’ lips

There are some companies which deserve special mentions. The list includes Samyang which has unveiled a 35mm f/1.4 lens with electronic contacts for Canon DSLRs, while Pentax has taken the wraps off its 645Z medium format camera with a 51.4-megapixel CMOS image sensor.

On the other hand, Mitakon has announced the 50mm f/0.95 lens for Sony E-mount cameras with full frame image sensors whereas Tamron’s 16-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD lens has finally received a price and a release date, just like Sigma has done with the 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens.

Rumors-wise, Fujifilm has stolen the show once again as the company is believed to launch the X-Pro1 replacement, called X-Pro2, in early 2015. The camera will allegedly feature a full frame organic sensor.

Last but not least mention concerns a Fujifilm high-speed wide-angle lens which will be a 16mm f/1.4 model, according to some gossip talks.
