First reliable Canon 1D X Mark II specs list leaked

Featured Products

The first reliable specs list of the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II has showed up on the web, in order to shed some light over one of the most rumored cameras throughout 2015.

Canon will reveal a new flagship DSLR camera next year, just in time for the 2016 Olympics as well as for the 2016 UEFA European Championship. They are two major sporting events and the company must not miss these opportunities to demonstrate the capabilities of its upcoming top-level gear.

If you follow the digital imaging industry, then you might remember some rumors stating that the EOS 1D X Mark II will actually be introduced this year. Well, those gossip talks turned out to be false, along with their leaked specs, so we are going to rule out an announcement within the next four weeks or so.

For the first time, we can say that the following details will be the real Canon 1D X Mark II specs. A list with information from top sources has been put together, so this is what you can expect from the next-generation flagship model of the EOS series!

Partial Canon 1D X Mark II specs list revealed by trusted source

Canon will allegedly add a 24-megapixel full-frame sensor in the EOS 1D X Mark II. It appears that this aspect has been determined, which means that the 24MP sensor is the best solution for everyone.

Canon 1D X Mark II will feature a 24MP sensor, an upgrade from 1D X’ 18MP sensor.

The autofocus system will be improved, too, as expected. Sources do not have the exact number, but it seems like the shooter will have more than 80 AF points, that will come in handy for quick, silent focusing.

Getting back to the sensor, it is reported that the 24MP unit will provide a little over 14 stops of dynamic range. This trait will be a major selling point among professionals, albeit it would have been nice to see it reach the 15-stop DR available in the EOS C300 Mark II camcorder.

According to highly-reliable sources, the Canon 1D X Mark II specs list will also include a continuous shooting mode of up to approximately 15 frames per second and 4K video recording capabilities.

The allegation that the EOS 1D X Mark II will capture 4K footage does not necessarily mean that the replacement to the 5D Mark III (5D Mark IV or whatever it will be called) will not have such feature, too.

Anyway, sports photographers will surely enjoy the aforementioned 15fps burst mode, but we are waiting for the official confirmation before drawing a conclusion.

Other than these, the DSLR will support dual CFast cards, will offer a bigger LCD screen, and will be powered by a new processor based on fresh technology. It could be DIGIC 7 or it could be something else. Either way, stay tuned to Camyx to find out!
