Canon is once again rumored to announce a new flagship camera for its APS-C series by the end of the year and the device will be tested during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Canon 7D replacement is the most rumored camera of all time. There is little doubt about that as so many gossip talks have circulated over the web during the past few years.

The 7D has been launched in September 2009 and the Japanese company has still not issued a successor. Many sources said that it would become official in 2013. However, this did not become true.

In recent times it has been revealed that the Canon 7D Mark II (or whatever it will be called) will be announced within 2014. Different announcement dates have been given and now it is time for another rumor.

According to a trusted source, the next-generation Canon flagship DSLR with an APS-C image sensor will be unveiled at the Photokina 2014, five years after its predecessor.

Canon 7D replacement to offer extensive video features

Canon 70D has been the company’s first DSLR camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. The Canon 7D successor might also feature this system along with other tools for videographers.

Canon is aiming to make this a perfect launch because it is a very important market for the company. Professional photographers are not fond of mistakes, so a lot of efforts have been put into the 7D successor to turn it into a great device.

It appears that the camera will not be named 7D Mark II, although the source has not provided its real name. Furthermore, it is unclear whether it features a hybrid viewfinder (like the Fujifilm X-Pro1) or another type of viewfinder.

What is almost certain is the fact that Canon’s upcoming high-end APS-C DSLR will offer extensive videography tools. Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology comes to mind, but it is very likely that the company will add even more systems for videography fans.

Canon to test its DSLR at the 2014 World Cup, release it at Photokina 2014

The Japanese manufacturer will also test the camera in the near future. The same source is claiming that the Canon 7D replacement will be tested at the 2014 World Cup, which begins in Brazil on June 12 and lasts for a whole month.

The Canon 7D Mark II units in question are not prototypes. Instead they are pre-production models which are aimed to allow Canon’s testers to discover bugs and to tell the company which settings need to be tweaked before the launch.

As for the release date, Canon will launch the DSLR at the Photokina 2014, as stated above. Meanwhile, the EOS 7D is available at Amazon for a price around $1,300.
