The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is now rumored to become official in August 2015 and to be capable of recording videos at 4K resolution.

When Nikon announced the D800 and D800E, it was revealed that the company had chosen to offer the best image quality possible.

On the other hand, Canon launched the 5D Mark III, which was very focused on videography features.

Years later, Nikon has introduced the D750, which is considered the true heir to the D700 and a competitor to the 5D Mark III.

Now, Canon is on the verge of announcing the 5Ds and 5Ds R, which will compete against the D800/D800 replacement, called D810. However, the true 5D Mark III heir will become official in August 2015 with a different set of specifications that will include 4K video recording.

Canon 5D Mark III will be replaced by the 5D Mark IV, which will record 4K videos, this August.

Canon EOS 5D Mark IV will be able to shoot 4K videos after all

A lot of rumors regarding the 5D Mark III successor have circled the web. A source has previously said that the DSLR will be capable of shooting 4K footage, while a different source has debunked this gossip.

The confusion has come from the fact that the 5D-series has been split into three cameras: 5Ds, 5Ds R, and 5D Mark IV. A trusted source is now reporting that the 5DMkIII replacement will definitely record 4K videos.

Moreover, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV will also offer many other features aimed at videographers. These new features are unknown for now, but they should be revealed slightly before the DSLR’s official announcement, which is said to take place in August.

A recent rumor has said that the camera will be introduced later in 2015, so it is nice that a narrower timeframe is now available.

5D Mark III replacement is coming this August with improved low-light capabilities

The source has had something to say about the photography features of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV as well. It is said that the megapixel count will be similar to that of the 5D Mark III, albeit a tad higher.

This way, the DSLR will be aimed at sports and action photographers along with event photographers. As previously rumored, the sensor will be very sensitive to light, so it will make a big difference in low-light conditions.

For the time being, the 5D Mark III will have to make do. It is available for about $2,800 at Amazon following a $200 rebate.
