The Canon EOS M2 release date might have been scheduled for mid-November, when a big event will take place with the purpose of presenting the latest cameras from multiple manufacturers.

It has been a while since we have last heard about the Canon EOS M replacement. It happened in September when the name of the shooter has been spotted in a Digital Photo Professional update along with the rest of the company’s camera line-up.

The rumor mill has also been expecting this device to be launched since mid-2013. Despite all the information and the DPP leak, the so-called Canon EOS M2 is still not here. This fact has made a lot of people to claim that photographers will not see any new gear from the Japanese corporation by the end of this year. However, this may be true only for the DSLR department, as the EOS M successor rumors are back in style.

Canon EOS M is rumored to be finally replaced by the EOS M2 sometime around mid-November.

Canon EOS M2 release date may be closer than expected

A person familiar with the matter has revealed that a “major retailer” will hold a huge event in order to present the latest cameras and lenses from most big players. The name of the retailer has not been mentioned, but it could be one focused on imaging, such as Adorama or B&H Photo Video.

Regardless of the retailer, the source is claiming that Canon fans should take part in this event because the company will show something really interesting. The device is not mentioned nonetheless, but since no DSLRs are coming this year, the next logical idea includes the replacement for the EOS M.

When is this supposed to happen?

Apparently, this big presentation will take place sometime during the “third week of November”. This means that the Canon EOS M2 release date is set to occur a few days prior to that, so the company’s fans should keep an eye out around mid-November.

Either way, such events are not uncommon and they are likely to happen before the holidays season, when people begin shopping. Additionally, the fourth Friday of each November is known as the “Black Friday”, which is an occasion for stores to provide massive discounts for older products in order to empty their stocks and replenish the shelves with newer goods.

For the time being, the Canon EOS M is still available at Amazon with an EF-M 18-55mm IS STM lens for $331.69. Its price has not gone up since the major discount earlier this year, so the launch of a successor is imminent.
