Canon PowerShot SX60 HS’ rumored specs and launch date

A few specs and details regarding the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, a bridge camera that might replace the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, have been leaked on the web.

Canon PowerShot SX60 HS specs to include improved sensor, 60x optical zoom, and brighter aperture

A scarce specifications list has been provided, too. It seems like the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS will feature a 15-megapixel 1/2.3-inch-type image sensor, an improvement over the 12.1-megapixel sensor found in its predecessor.

Its zooming capabilities will be extended as well. The 35mm equivalent will be 20-1200mm, consisting of 60x optical zoom, up from the 50x optical zoom provided by the 35mm equivalent of 24-1200mm found in the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS.

The aperture is now brighter, too, reaching a maximum of f/2.8, which is faster than the f/3.4 offered by the SX60’s forerunner. Another confirmed improvement is the autofocus system, which will be quicker than that of the SX50 HS.
