Canon will replace several lenses later this year, including both the TS-E 45mm and TS-E 90mm tilt-shifts, an inside source says.

Canon is going to keep itself very busy in 2013. The Japanese manufacturer will release numerous products this year, along with several firmware updates for some of the most important cameras in its lineup.

EF 200 f/2L and EF 800 f/5.6L IS USM replacements coming soon

Recently, it has been reported that the company will issue direct replacements for the EF 200 f/2L and EF 800 f/5.6L IS USM lenses. Not many details are available, but it seems like the upcoming optics will be made out of the same white resistant material, meaning that they will have roughly the same design as their predecessors.

Anyway, the EF 200 f/2L and EF 800 f/5.6L IS USM are not the only lenses being replaced this year. At least two other optics will be released in the second quarter of 2013, said a source familiar with the matter.

Canon TS-E 45mm and 90mm lenses TBA in Q2

It is claimed that both the 45mm and 90mm TS-E lenses will be directly replaced during Q2 2013. Unfortunately, not many details are available, since a couple of weeks are still left until the beginning of this year’s second quarter.

If the rumors are true, then Canon will once again reclaim the high-end tilt-shift market, thanks to these products.

Rival for the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 in the oven, too?

It is worth noting that a third Canon lens may be unveiled during the same event. The other gear, which is on the verge of becoming official, is none other than the competitor for the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8.

The Japanese manufacturer has “delayed” the launch of a rival for the Nikon’s lens for too long, but it seems like Canon fans will finally get what they have asked for.

As usual, we remind you that this is just a rumor and that it may never become a reality, though photographers should start saving up some money just in case the new tilt-shift lenses will be released in the near future.
