Nikon D7100 has received its first firmware update since the DSLR camera’s official introduction earlier this year.

Nikon has replaced the D7000 with the new D7100 this year, another camera which does not feature an optical low-pass filter. The camera is now upgradeable to firmware version 1.01, which comes packed with several modifications that are certain to fix some bugs and quirks.

Firmware update 1.01 has been released for download for the Nikon D7100. The new upgrade provides several bug fixes that should improve the camera’s general performance.

Nikon D7100 firmware update 1.01 changelog

The Nikon D7100 firmware update 1.01 allows users to change subject brightness when recording full HD movies at 24p in Manual exposure mode. The changes list continues with adjusting the data recorded in EXIF to better suit 35mm equivalents.

D7100 users are now having access to improved text size in calendar playback mode and the cursor movement in the same mode works properly no matter which operation a photographer is performing.

The camera has been affected by a bug when reviewing photos taken with white balance bracketing turned on. The images showed a 9-step white balance, despite the fact that they had been captured at a 10-step fine-tuning. This problem has been fixed and it will not trouble users in the future.

The Viewfinder Virtual Horizon is no longer freezing no matter the circumstances, while reviewing photos taken in Manual Flash and Repeating Flash modes with Overview enabled will no longer display the flash power where the flash compensation should be.

Last but not least, pressing the AE / AF lock key with both Special Effects and Selective Color turned on, while using magnified view in Live View mode, would not change the photos. However, this issue has been fixed and the camera behaves properly in this scenario.
