Panasonic GH4 firmware update 2.1 released for download with several improvements

Panasonic has confirmed that the new firmware allows users to embed the time code into the HDMI output. Users can select this option in the Motion Picture menu.

The next change is also concerning the HDMI output signal, as it involves the addition of an RSS feature, which consists of Recording Start / Stop. It can be found in the Motion Picture menu, too.

The Japan-based company has added full HD video output at 30fps and 25fps via HDMI while capturing full HD footage at 30fps / 25fps.

The changelog says that the performance of 4K video playback has been improved after users have reported some issues when reviewing their 4K movies on the mirrorless camera.

In time lapse photography mode, the camera will begin capturing at the user-determined time even when the summer time is set.

YAGH interface unit now upgradeable to firmware update 1.1

In order to support the changes of the Panasonic GH4 firmware update 2.1, the company has released firmware version v1.1 for the YAGH interface unit.

As a result, time code output via HDMI is now supported along with RSS signal into the HDMI output signal. Additionally, full HD video output at 30fps and 25fps is available via HDMI when recording such videos.

Finally, Panasonic says that full HD output at 30fps and 25fps is also supported via SDI when capturing videos at the aforementioned resolutions and frame rates.

Both updates for the Lumix GH4 camera and YAGH interface can be downloaded at Panasonic’s support page right now.

If you do not own a Panasonic GH4 and you want one, then you can purchase it at Amazon for about $1,700.
