DxO Labs has released another update for the DxO Optics Pro software, adding support for the recently-introduced Nikon D7100 DSLR camera.

DxO Labs is constantly updating the company’s image-processing tool, called DxO Optics Pro, which competes against Adobe’s Lightroom software. In order to prove that it continues to support the program, DxO released another update for the program.

DxO Optics Pro 8.1.5 software update comes packed with support for the Nikon D7100 camera.

The latest minor update has a firmware version of 8.1.5 and it is aimed at both Elite and Standard editions of the program.

DxO Optics Pro 8.1.5 software update does not have a lengthy changelog, as the image-processing tool has been mainly released in order to support the new Nikon D7100.

The DSLR camera has been released on February 21, 2013. It replaces the Nikon D7000, a shooter pushed to the market back in September 2010.

Nikon D7100 information

The Nikon D7100 features a 24.1-megapixel image sensor, EXPEED 3 image processor, 51-point autofocus system, continuous mode shooting of up to 7 frames per second, optical viewfinder with 100% coverage, full HD video recording, and a 3.2-inch 1,228K-dot LCD screen among many others.

Nikon has continued the trend of releasing shooters which do not have an optical low pass filter. The reason for that is the higher image quality leading to sharper photos, though the lack of an anti-aliasing filter makes the shots susceptible to moiré patterns.

Anyway, DxO Optics Pro 8.1.5 is available for download for both Windows and Mac OS X personal computers.

The program’s users can start importing RAW and JPEG photos from the Japanese company’s latest DSLR camera. DxO Optics Pro can be used for processing the images, in order to adjust the contrast and light balance among many other settings.

Update adds 131 new lens/camera modules

More than 11,000 lens modules are available in the software’s library. However, DxO Labs says that the Nikon D7100 opportunity brings 131 new lens-camera combinations from Nikon, Sigma, Tokina, Panasonic, and Tamron equipment.

As usual, photographers can use DxO Optics to rectify optical imperfections, including vignetting and distortion.

Current owners can download software update 8.1.5 by opening the application  and checking for an upgrade from the menu.

People who do not own the program can check DxO Labs’ official website, where the Standard version costs $169, while the Elite version is available for $299. Additionally, a 30-day trial version can be downloaded for free.

The Nikon D7100 DSLR is available for purchase at Amazon for a price of $1,196.95.
