Eight new Canon lenses are rumored to be announced throughout 2014, amid rumors that multiple novel shooters will also be launched next year.

It has been a pretty packed year for Canon with multiple camera launches, including the EOS 70D and 100D / Rebel SL1. However, there are people saying that the company could have done more, with the EOS M2 and the 7D Mark II being the first cameras to come to mind.

The next-generation mirrorless camera is still rumored to be announced this November, but the recently-posted teaser may actually represent nothing more than a white version of the 100D / Rebel SL1, pushing the EOS M replacement to 2014.

Nevertheless, if they are not coming by the end of this year, both the EOS M2 mirrorless and the 7D Mark II DSLR cameras will be introduced in 2014. There is no doubt that these two will become available to the market next year, along with two professional shooters with a high amount of megapixels.

Still, they will not meet the public alone. According to the rumor mill, eight new Canon lenses will be unveiled next year. The company has been set back by manufacturing issues as well as high costs, so it has decided to delay some products that should have become available by now.

The list of the alleged eight optics has not been published, but it seems to include “high-end glass”, which can do nothing else but raise the excitement levels of the photographers.

Two tilt-shift, one macro zoom, one telephoto zoom, and a few primes are in pole-position for next year

As stated above, sources have yet to reveal “which” lenses will be introduced “when”, but additional details are sure to be unearthed as we get closer to the announcement events.

For the time being, we have a pretty good picture of some of the optics that are coming, as people familiar with the matter have been kind enough in the past to leak some information.

The 45mm f/2.8 and 90mm f/2.8 tilt-shift models are purportedly getting replaced by the 45mm f/2.8L and 135mm f/2.8L, while a new macro zoom lens with f/4 aperture is also on its way.

Other lenses that might be revealed in 2014 are the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM II, EF 14-24mm f/2.8L, EF 35mm f/1.4L II, EF 135mm f/2L II, and the EF 19mm f/2.8L.

Since this is a rumor, one must take it with a pinch of salt. However, 2014 is a year that is worth getting excited about, as the World Cup will take place in Brazil and it is an event calling for new high-end products to be released.
