The Federation of European Photographers (FEP) has announced that the Ireland-based Peter Gordon has won the European Photographer of the Year 2012 title.

Peter Gordon is a talented photographer from Ireland, who has already won the Irish Photographer of the Year award. However, he will be able to add the FEP’s European Photographer of the Year 2012 award to his CV, thanks to a series of impressive photos.

Peter Gordon has won the Federation of European Photographers’ European Photographer of the Year 2012 award

The photographer has been present at the Burning Man Festival 2011 at the Temple of Transition. He has been “lucky” enough to capture a series of amazing images and compiled a photo book called “Life and Death – The Temple”.

Gordon’s photographs have already won some prizes, but the one offered by the Federation of European Photographers is the most important of them all and we can all agree that he truly deserves the award.

Some of the most acclaimed pictures are called “The Playa”, “Between Life and Death”, “Healthy Body, Healthy Mind”, and “Meditation”. However, the entire collection is one worth seeing.

Photographer has also won the contest’s “Reportage” category

Beside the overall laureate, FEP has also announced the individual winners of the following categories: Commercial, Wedding, Reportage, Portrait, Illustrative, and Landscape. Peter Gordon won also the Reportage category.

Additionally, the Federation of European Photographers has also announced the winners of some special categories for young and student photographers and another one for non-European lensmen. All the winners have been presented with a Golden Camera.

It is worth noting that the photo contest has been judged by several professional photographers from around the world. They have all agreed on the winners and have expressed their appreciation for the quality of contenders’ photography.

Kickstarter campaign underway to help Gordon publish a photo book

In order to celebrate the occasion, Peter Gordon and Explore Light have created a Kickstarter campaign, which will result in the creation of a hard cover book. The publication will sport 112 pages with more than 70 photos taken at the Burning Man Festival 2011 by the award-winning photographer.

The images are amazing and they deserve their own photo book. However, the campaign requires £10,500 and there are only eight days left. So far, £4,888 have been raised, meaning that Gordon needs your help to make his dream come true, so you could go ahead and give him a helping hand.
