France-based photographers Thomas Subtil and Clarisse Rebotier are the creators of a funny image series, called “Animetro”, in which exotic animals are invading the Parisian metro.

We have featured plenty of amusing photo series on our website. The weekend is here and it should be all about relaxing while having fun. So grab a cup of coffee and check out the “Animetro” project jointly created by French photographers Thomas Subtil and Clarisse Rebotier.

Exotic animals taking the metro to visit Paris in amusing photo series

The plot for the Animetro photo series is pretty straightforward: the Paris metro has been invaded. This is not something that anyone would rejoice seeing, but these are unusual circumstances as the metro has been overrun by exotic animals.

If this were a regular situation, then you would not see a giraffe taking the metro to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world. In fact, you would not expect to see animals native to the African savanna traveling around any city. This is where the vision of Thomas and Clarisse comes in, allowing us to see how animals and humans would co-exist in a very busy city.

Elephants and humans are not the best of friends, as poachers continue to kill these marvelous animals in order to take their tusks, but as this series demonstrates, we could be friends in a perfect world.

Anyway, we will leave these matters for some other time and enjoy the presence of zebras, ostriches, monkeys, and other animals around the Parisian metro, albeit it is the work of some clever photoshopping.

The Animetro image project is Thomas Subtil and Clarisse Rebotier’s work

Thomas Subtil appears to love books and poems. He refers to his work as “contemporary photography” where aesthetics meet poetry in order to create a “photographic reality”. His photos are intriguing and joyful, an unconventional approach to today’s reality.

On the other hand, Clarisse Rebotier has started her artistic life as a painting lover. However, we can be thankful that she has decided to take the photography route because her work is pretty interesting, although not something that you can rejoice while at work.

Anyway, the two photographers have teamed up in order to create “Animetro”, a fantastic image collection that is on display at the Millesime Gallery, Paris until April 17.

The exhibition has been opened in mid-March and has received praises from visitors and critics alike, although we did not expect it to be any different. More photos can be found on Thomas Subtil and Clarisse Rebotier‘s personal websites.
