This is the Fotodiox Excell +1 Nikon lens adapter for Micro Four Thirds. Fotodiox’ new Excell +1 adapter series allows Micro Four Thirds and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema users to mount Nikon G and Canon FD lenses onto their cameras.

Owning a Micro Four Thirds camera gives you access to a suite of lenses and accessories. However, users may be reluctant to invest in new gear and, at the same time, they could have some older Nikon G and Canon FD lenses laying around in their homes.

Thankfully, there is a common solution for them. It is called Fotodiox Excell +1 and it consists of a lens adapter and a speedbooster. According to the manufacturer, it will allow Micro Four Thirds and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera users to mount Nikon G and Canon FD optics onto their devices.

The Excell +1 lens adapter comes packed with an aperture ring, unlike Nikon G optics, meaning that the aperture can be set manually.

Beside acting as a lens adapter, the Fotodiox Excell +1 is doubling as a speedbooster. When mounting a 50mm f/1.4 lens on a Micro Four Thirds camera, it will provide a 35mm equivalent of 70mm instead of 100mm. Additionally, the maximum aperture will be one f-stop faster, standing at f/1 instead of f/1.4.

When mounted onto a Blackmagic Cinema Pocket camera with a 50mm f/1.4 lens, the Excell +1 lens adapter will provide a 35mm focal length equivalent of 144mm instead of the regular 103mm, whereas the maximum aperture will stand at f/1.

Availability information

Fotodiox Excell +1 is available now for a price of $139.95. This is a $20 launch discount and it may not last for very long, so you may want to hurry up in order to save a few bucks.

Additionally, consumers who purchase a unit until July 22 will receive a Light Cannon Creative adapter, which offers a soft-focus effect.

More details can be found at the company’s official website, where you can also purchase the new Excell +1 adapters.
