Fujifilm is preparing an announcement for June 2013, consisting of a successor for the X-Pro1 mirrorless camera, called X-Pro2.

Sources familiar with the matter have revealed that Fujifilm is poised to make an announcement this June, in order to introduce a new camera. The X-Pro2 is the rumored shooter and it will replace the X-Pro1, which, in fact, is not such an old device, as it become available in early 2012.

Fujifilm X-Pro1 will be replaced in June 2013 with the X-Pro2, a mirrorless camera sporting a new hybrid viewfinder.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 mirrorless camera release date scheduled for June 2013

The Fujifilm X-Pro2 has been rumored in the past, when the Nippon Magazine posted its predictions for 2013. The forecast was based on pure assumptions, not on actual facts, but the magazine was right most of the times.

Nippon’s calendar included the Nikon D7100 and the Canon EOS 700D / Rebel T5i / Kiss X7i. Additionally, it also mentioned the Lumix GF7 camera, which turned out to be the Panasonic GF6.

X-Pro2 will offer a new hybrid viewfinder and dual-processor technology

The upcoming Fujifilm camera will feature the same 16-megapixel X-Trans CMOS image sensor, but it will come packed with a brand new electronic viewfinder, while the optical viewfinder will remain the same.

All in all, the hybrid viewfinder technology will get better in Fujifilm’s shooters. The forthcoming X-Pro2 will feature a pair of processors, which is aimed at reducing the EVF lag and odd behavior.

It is worthwhile to mention that the X-Pro1 also employs a dual-processor system, but the second CPU is not a “real” one, thus the viewfinder is not performing as expected.

More Fujifilm shooters are said to become available this year

The rumors about Fujifilm cameras do not end here, as the digital imaging company is also working on releasing the X-M1 by the end of April. Details are still scarce, but it should consist of just another entry-level mirrorless camera.

The year is very long and Fujifilm is going to make the most of it. In order to complete the trio, the corporation will also launch the X-E2. The mirrorless system will act as a substitution for the X-E1, which is a cheap model without an optical viewfinder.

The Fujifilm X-E2 is expected to sport only an electronic VF, just like its predecessor, but more information should be revealed in the near future.
