Fujifilm X100s flagship compact camera is rumored to be replaced at the Photokina 2014 with a new model.

Fuji will announce a new flagship compact camera this September, sources are claiming. The new device will sport a 24-megapixel APS-C X-Trans image sensor, which will most likely make its way into the X-Pro1 replacement as well.

Additionally, the autofocus speed will be greatly improved. However, it is unlikely that it will match the quickness of the X-T1, a separate source has revealed.

Moreover, the Fujifilm X100s successor will come packed with a built-in electronic viewfinder. Its predecessor featured a hybrid viewfinder that offered both electronic and optical elements.

This is one thing that sets it apart from its rivals and that has brought a lot of customers. However, electronic viewfinders have been improved in recent times, so the Japanese company may not find it feasible to continue developing a hybrid model.

Fujifilm X100s successor to be called X100T or X200

The source is claiming that the camera might be released under the name of Fujifilm X100T or X200. Both names have already been speculated, so we will have to wait for more information before drawing a conclusion.

Fuji’s new shooter may also sport a tilting screen on the back as well as a brand new lens. A fixed focal length will still be chosen, but the exact range and maximum aperture are unknown.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that the X100T/X200 will implement a Phase Detection AF system with a larger area.

As stated above, more details are expected to be leaked in the near future. For the time being, the Fujifilm X100s can be bought at Amazon for around $1,300.
