Fujifilm is rumored to unveil two new compact cameras, the X30 and X200, sometime in the following months.

The last major announcement made by Fujifilm has taken place on January 28 when the first weathersealed camera of the X-mount series has become official as Fujifilm X-T1.

The shooter has been welcomed by most experts and reviewers, praising its image quality, autofocus speed, and electronic viewfinder. However, it is time to take a closer look at the future, as the company is working on a couple more cameras which will be launched this year.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the Fujifilm X30 will be announced sometime this summer, while the Fujifilm X200 will become available later in 2014.

Fujifilm X20 could be replaced by the Fuji X30 compact camera this summer.

The Fuji X30 will act as a replacement for the Fuji X20. The latter has been introduced at the beginning of 2013 during the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. It has replaced the Fuji X10 with a 2/3-inch-type X-Trans CMOS II sensor, built-in optical viewfinder, and EXR II image processor among others.

It is not the first time it has been mentioned in gossip talks. The rumor mill has already spoken about it a couple of times, but the predictions have turned out to be off. This camera has not been launched in January and there are very small chances of becoming official by the end of this month.

On the other hand, it seems like the Fujifilm X30 will meet the public and will be launched during the summer. For now, Amazon is selling the X20 for a price of under $500.

Fuji could return to a full frame path with the X200 this year

Fujifilm X100S is the high-end compact camera of the X-series. It has been described as one of the most beautiful cameras on the market, thanks to its retro style.

Allegedly, the Fujifilm X200 will succeed the X100S sometime in 2014. A company representative has denied such claims in the past and also “confirmed” that the series will not make the jump to a full frame sensor, like rumors have suggested.

Reliable sources are still convinced that the X100S replacement will pack a 35mm-type sensor, but we will only find out about this later in 2014.

Fujifilm X100S is rumored to be replaced by the Fuji X200, which will feature a new sensor, display, viewfinder, and lens.

Meanwhile, some Fujifilm X200 specs have been leaked on the web. It is rumored that the compact camera will feature a 24-megapixel X-Trans sensor (full frame or APS-C), tilting screen, new lens, and a new electronic viewfinder.

The X100s comes packed with a hybrid viewfinder, combining optical and electronic elements. It is unclear whether the X200 will sport an electronic-only VF or if it is still a hybrid model with the same optical elements and redesigned electronic parts.

Sources have added that the Fuji X200 will be able to autofocus faster than the Fuji X100S, but no further details are provided. Nevertheless, the X100S remains a great camera and it is available at Amazon for less than $1,300.
