The price that Fujifilm X-mount camera owners will have to pay for the XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS lens has been leaked by a Dutch store ahead of an official announcement.

Photographers who have adopted Fujifilm’s X-mount have longed for a super telephoto lens since the series has been introduced. Their options are rather limited at this point, as the lens with the longest focal length is the XF 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7.

At the beginning of 2014, Fuji confirmed that a telephoto zoom lens was in the works. The story has resumed at the world’s largest digital imaging trade fair, Photokina 2014, where the company has announced the development of the XF 140-40mm f/4-5.6 optic.

The official product launch event is still weeks away, according to internal sources, but a Dutch store has just leaked the price of the product. It appears that this optic will retail for about €2,000 in Europe, which means that US consumers could pay around $2,000 for the same product.

This is the listing of the Fujifilm XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 lens at Dutch store CameraCompleet.

Fujifilm XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS lens price to be €2,000 in Europe?

CameraCompleet is the name of the Dutch retailer which has leaked the Fujifilm XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS lens price. Before it got removed, the optic was listed as being available for a price of €1,999, which amounts for about $2,370.

Nevertheless, prices in Europe are usually higher than the ones in the US. This means that this X-mount super telephoto zoom lens will cost about $2,000, essentially becoming the most expensive X-mount optic on the market.

Currently, this title is held by the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR lens, which is available for approximately $1,600 at Amazon.

It is worth noting that this glass may be aimed at sports and wildlife photographers, while the store listing displays a “WR” designation, however, it is very unlikely that it is weathersealed.

Fuji’s super telephoto zoom lens will offer high image quality and quick AF

Dutch store CameraCompleet offered more than just the Fujifilm XF 140-400mm f/4-5.6 R LM OIS lens price, as the retailer also includes some details about the product’s specs.

It appears that the optic will come with a twin linear autofocus motor that supports focus speeds as fast as 0.28 seconds. Additionally, its built-in optical image stabilization technology will provide up to 4.5 stops of compensation.

The lens will include a couple of ED elements and one Super ED element in order to cut down chromatic aberration. A special coating will also take care of the reflections, thus increasing the quality of the image.

The optic will pack a zoom ring, a focus ring, and a tripod bracket, and its minimum focusing distance will stand at 1.1 meters. The lens will offer a 35mm focal length equivalent between 210mm and 600mm. Stay tuned for the official announcement!
