Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS lens is now official, along with the company’s lens roadmap, which has revealed that more optics will be released in 2013.

Fujifilm has announced a new XF lens, which is aimed at X-mount cameras. The Japan-based company has also decided to unveil an updated lens roadmap, in order to assure photographers that more optics are on their way.

The lens has been rumored before, when sources claimed that the product will become available on store shelves by the end of May 2013.

The Fujifilm XF 55-200mm F3.5-4.8 R LM OIS is a telephoto zoom lens designed for X-series cameras, such as X-Pro1 and X-E1. This product is providing a 35mm equivalent of 83-300mm and it sports a maximum aperture of f/3.5 at 55mm focal length, respectively f/4.8 at 200mm focal length.

President and COO, Go Miyazaki, says that this new optic will bring greater flexibility to X-Pro1 and X-E1 owners. It should allow the lensmen to capture high-quality images and videos across various scenarios.

Fujifilm’s latest XF lens boasts image stabilization technology support, allowing users to take advantage of 4.5-stop slower shutter speeds. This option is useful when capturing images in low-light conditions, which usually require the photographer to stop down the aperture.

The lens is powered by a pair of linear motors, which lets it focus in a faster way. According to Fuji, the XF 55-200mm optic can focus in just 0.28 seconds.

This Fujinon lens is packed in a special coating, in order to reduce reflections, ghosting, and flare. Its pair of ED lens elements should cut down optical defects, while Super ED element will enhance the product’s overall performance.

Fujifilm XF 55-200mm telephoto zoom lens release date and price details are currently unknown. However, this information should be revealed soon.

Fujifilm’s updated lens roadmap 2013 includes pancake XF 27mm, super wide zoom XF 10-24mm, and XF 23mm lenses.

Fujinon lens roadmap updated, new X-Pro1 and X-E1 firmware coming this July

The Japanese corporation will release a firmware update for both the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras this July, which will bring support for faster autofocus speeds. The XF 55-200mm lens is also said to become available before the launch of the new firmware.

Fujifilm will expand its Fujinon lens lineup with three new lenses by the end of 2013. The pancake XF 27mm f/2.8 will provide a 35mm equivalent of 41mm.

Additionally, two more lenses should be introduced on the market. The XF 10-24mm f/4 super wide zoom lens and XF 35mm f/1.4 optics will be released for customers during this year’s final stages.
