The Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R lens for X-mount cameras is rumored to become available on the market sometime in the spring of 2014.

Fujifilm is hinting that the sales of its X-mount mirrorless cameras are going pretty well. As a result, the company is working on providing more lenses for the photographers who have chosen the “X” path in their career.

Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R lens is allegedly coming in spring 2014, according to Fuji UK.

The Japan-based manufacturer is constantly updating its lens roadmap therefore we have a good idea of what is coming and when it will arrive on the market. However, the timeframes are off sometimes, so we appreciate hints as well as accidental leaks.

Such is the case of the upcoming Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R lens. The rumor mill is claiming that it will be unveiled officially at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 or at least sometime around this event.

Today, we have managed to catch a glimpse of when it is hitting worldwide markets, courtesy of the UK division. It appears that this prime lens and its very fast aperture will be released in spring 2014.

Blazing-fast aperture, but not the fastest for Fuji X-mount cameras

The Fujifilm 56mm f/1.2 optic will provide a 35mm focal length equivalent of 84mm. Coupled with the bright aperture, this lens will be perfect for portrait photography.

Unfortunately, being a part of the “XF” series and adding its wide aperture into the mix might make it a very expensive tool to buy.

Its quality is expected to be top-notch, but it does not mean anything if a lot of photographers will not be able to purchase it, especially when it is facing serious competition from the newly-launched HandeVision IBELUX 40mm f/0.85.

The focal lengths are somewhat different, as the IBELUX model will provide a 60mm equivalent when taking the crop factor into consideration, but we are talking about the world’s fastest aperture here so a lot of users might be enticed by it.

The IBELUX 40mm f/0.85 lens is coming on February 25 for a price of $2,080.

Fuji is planning to launch yet another wide-angle X-mount lens

Earlier this year, Fujifilm has introduced the XF 23mm f/1.4 R wide-angle optic, which is available at Amazon for $899.

Despite this fact, the company is working on another wide-angle lens that will provide a focal range between 10 and 24mm with a constant aperture of f/4 and built-in optical image stabilization technology.

The 10-24mm f/4 model should have been unveiled by now, but Fuji might have chosen to wait until CES 2014. More news will surely come soon so it would be wise to stay tuned and catch all the latest details.
