Fujifilm to launch two lenses within two months

If a weathersealed shooter is on its way, then the potential buyers should be aware that two new lenses will also be officially introduced in the foreseeable future.

The company’s roadmap includes the XF 10-24mm f/4 and XF 56mm f/1.2 optics and the rumor mill has come forth to say that one of them is coming by the end of the year, while the other one will be launched in very early 2014.

Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 lens announcement set for November 20

According to sources familiar with the matter, the first to be unveiled is the Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 lens. Its announcement date appears to have been scheduled for November 20.

The price is unknown, just like the release date. However, we should expect this product to become available during the first weeks of next year for a somewhat expensive price tag. Either way, it will provide a 35mm equivalent of 15-36mm.

The second model is the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 lens. People familiar with the matter are claiming that its launch event will take place on January 6, possibly somewhere in the surroundings of CES 2014 event, which opens its doors to visitors on January 7. Its 35mm equivalent will stand at 84mm and coupled with the bright aperture, it should prove to be an excellent glass for portrait photography.

Its price is unknown nonetheless, just like its exact release date, but photographers will not be left waiting for very long, as the competition keeps getting stronger and long delays are not acceptable. An example of the lengthy and unhealthy delays include the Leica 42.5mm Nocticron for Micro Four Thirds cameras, which has been announced several times and it still cannot be purchased.

Weathersealed X-mount camera also coming in early January

Meanwhile, Fuji has recently confirmed that many lenses will be launched over the following 12 months. We already know many things about the first two, but we are digging to find out more information about them.

The company’s fans are probably more excited about the new X-mount X-Trans II weathersealed camera that is believed to be announced at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014, so the next few months should be really interesting.
