Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens revealed

Lensbaby has announced the new 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens for Canon and Nikon DSLR cameras with APS-C image sensors.

One of the companies which is specialized in special effect lenses is called Lensbaby. The lens maker has just unveiled a new product for photographers aiming to diversify their portfolio. The 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens is now official for Canon and Nikon APS-C cameras.

Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens has been announced and has become available for pre-order for a price under $300.

The Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens will transform the way you view the world. It comes with a polished barrel that provides beautiful ghosting and flare. This is done in order to add colors and light reflections to the circular photos, making them more eye-catching.

With an 185-degree angle of view, this optic is capable of capturing all the action happening in front of you. Additionally, it can focus on subjects located at a distance of only 0.25-inches, so you can assume that everything will be in focus.

Speaking of focusing techniques, this product does not support autofocus so you will have to rely on manual focusing. Thankfully, focus distance and depth of field scales are available on the lens to help you with focusing.

Lensbaby has confirmed that its 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens will be available in two versions. One of them is aimed at Canon DSLRs with APS-C sensors, while the other one will be designed for Nikon cameras with similarly-sized sensors.

Nevertheless, the optic can be mounted on full frame cameras and they will only work in crop mode. Either way, you are still getting circular images which can be used to impress your friends, family, or fellow photographers.

The maximum aperture stands at f/3.5, while the minimum one is f/22. This is a ultra wide-angle lens, so the aperture depends on an individual’s taste in photography.

Availability information

The Lensbaby 5.8mm f/3.5 Circular Fisheye lens is a small and lightweight product. It is only 2.75 inches tall and 3-inches wide, while weighing about 10.5 ounces / 298 grams.

Both Adorama and B&H PhotoVideo have listed the circular fisheye lens for pre-order at a price of $299.95. However, the release date has not been disclosed.
