Lexar has announced the launch of the 32GB and 64GB 1100x XQD memory cards, together with a 256GB 600x SDXC UHS-I card, via two press releases.

Lexar has officially confirmed that it will support Sony’s XQD memory card format. In order to back up its claims, the accessory maker has revealed two memory cards, delivering speeds of up to 1100x.

Camera users will be able to choose between high-speed XQD cards and high-capacity SDHC ones, while more units are expected to become available in the future. Either way, here is Lexar’s initial offer!

Professional XQD cards deliver not only astonishing read-write speeds of up to 500 Megabytes/s, but also capacities of over 2TB. The first and only producer (until now!) to showcase XQD memory cards was Sony, with its XQD-H and SQD-S series memory cards.

Lexar finally chose to join the performance memory cards family and brought in the 32GB and 64GB XQD Professional 1100X cards. They offer a minimum guaranteed read speed of 1100X or 168 MB/s, making it possible to shoot uninterrupted Full HD 1080p and 3D videos, or take up to 100 frames in RAW format in continuous shooting.

The cards are built to be tough, as they are designed to be water-resistant, to withstand low temperatures, and physical shocks. The Lexar Professional 1100x XQD cards will have a MSRPs of $299.99 (32GB) and $579.99 (64GB).

Lexar’s XQD Professional 1100x and Professional 600x SDXC UHS-I cards have limited lifetime warranty and include a downloadable version of Image Rescue 4 – a software that retrieves lost or deleted images and videos.
