Canon has begun sending invites to an event which will take place sometime in the next six to eight weeks and which might host the EOS 70D announcement.

Canon 70D has been one of the most rumored DSLR cameras of 2013. The device was supposed to be announced earlier this year, but it has eluded our sight so far. The last time anything had been heard about the shooter, sources claimed that the EOS 70D will feature a new autofocus technology and that it will finally be unveiled in July.

Big product launch rumored to take place within 6-8 weeks

This time, sources familiar with the matter have revealed that Canon is sending invitations to employees of the company’s select dealers. Apparently, the camera manufacturer will hold a “big product launch” sometime in the next six to eight weeks.

About one month has passed since the 70D radio chatter went into silent mode, but this new Canon 70D rumor will definitely be accompanied by more details in the weeks to come.

Canon 70D rumor or is this about that big megapixel camera?

Previously, sources claimed that the EOS 70D will be the last DSLR to be introduced in 2013, as the 7D Mark II and the big megapixel camera will be unveiled in 2014. However, everything is subject to change as it is based on speculation.

Since Canon is inviting its partners to a “big” event, it may well be all about the aforementioned big megapixel shooter, which is supposed to compete against the Nikon D800 / D800E.

Canon EOS 70D launch makes much more sense

Unfortunately for the fans waiting for Canon’s D800 response, a 70D launch would make much more sense. Most EOS xxD cameras have been announced and released during the summer, especially August.

This fact is also valid for the EOS 60D, which has been introduced in August 2010. The DSLR camera features an 18.1-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, ISO up to 12800, full HD video recording, and up to 5.3fps in continuous shooting mode.

More Canon 70D rumors are expected in the near future, but until then, the EOS 60D can be bought for $699 at Adorama and Amazon.
