A new Canon camera rumor says that the Japanese company will announce the development of a Pro DSLR body positioned higher than the EOS 5D Mark III.

As Canon is delaying the launch of higher-end devices, such as the big megapixel full frame DSLR or the APS-C 7D Mark II, there is plenty of gossip talk looming around.

There are a lot of rumors regarding the EOS M2 mirrorless cameras, too, but the devices continue to elude their official announcement.

Canon 5D Mark III is rumored to get a higher-end sibling that will be announced in 2013 and released in 2014.

Canon to announce plans to launch a “higher-than-5D Mark III” Pro DSLR soon

Despite all that, a new Canon camera rumor is making the internet rounds now. It says that the Japan-based manufacturer will make public the development of a Pro DSLR body that will be placed above the EOS 5D Mark III.

Those who are worried that the 5DMK3 will be replaced should rest assured, as Canon is not planning to do this anytime soon. The upcoming shooter is a new device and it is still unknown where it will be in the company’s prosumer lineup.

Meanwhile, Amazon offers the 5D Mark III for a price of $3,349.

New Canon camera rumor includes whispers of a new lens, too

There is a slight possibility that the DSLR might not be announced by the end of this year. Instead, Canon might choose to reveal a new lens. The rumor mill says that a highly-possible optic would be a new 800mm model, while the least likely lenses are 35mm f/1.4 and 100-400mm replacements.

As the PhotoPlux Expo 2013 is nearing, it makes perfect sense to speculate that the company will introduce its products at this event. The show will open its doors on October 23 and multiple digital camera manufacturers are expected to make interesting announcements.

Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS lens replacing 50mm f/1.4 USM next year

Canon’s lineup will suffer major changes throughout 2014. Another product that nears the end of its life span is the 50mm f/1.4 USM lens. The new optic is rumored to be released sometime in early 2014 and to have a smaller aperture.

The name of the product is Canon 50mm f/1.8 IS lens. Although its aperture will be smaller than that of the one it is replacing, the addition of image stabilization technology should compensate for the loss of light.

It will be more expensive than the f/1.4 IS-less version, which is available for $339 at Amazon. Still, the exact price, specs, and launch date remain unknown to us. More details should be revealed soon so stay tuned.
