New Canon f/2.8 wide-angle zoom lens rumored once again

Canon is once again rumored to be working on a replacement for the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens which could employ a different focal range than the current generation.

Following the introduction of the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM lens, the rumor mill has revealed that Canon is developing another wide-angle zoom lens with a brighter aperture. The product in question has been said to consist of a successor to the EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM and to be launched sometime in 2016.

For the second time in a short amount of time, a new Canon f/2.8 wide-angle zoom lens is being mentioned within the rumor mill. This time, the timeline has changed a bit, as the product might be introduced by the end of 2015.

Trusted sources have revealed that the next L-designed prime lens from Canon will be the aforementioned EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM. This product has received several mentions during the past few months and it appears that it is scheduled to come out this fall.
