The fast-approaching January 29 event held by Olympus will include the surprising announcement of a new OM-D E-M5 camera and new 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens, beside the already-leaked E-M10 camera and three optics.

If Fujifilm holds a product launch event on January 28, then Olympus will also introduce its own set of products a day later, on January 29.

A string of recent speculations has provided plenty of details regarding the Olympus products that will be unveiled at the end of the month. However, it seems like an OM-D camera and three lenses are not the only devices waiting to become official.

Olympus will refresh the 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens, while an Elite Black model of the E-M5 camera will become official on January 29.

According to a new set of information coming straight out of Japan, a new Olympus E-M5 camera will be unveiled along with a novel 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO lens.

The body of the OM-D shooter will be covered in an exclusive Elite Black color that is not found in any other OM-D model.

Meanwhile, this new zoom optic replaces the current model that provides an identical aperture and will be offered as a kit lens. The 12-40mm zoom lens will provide a 35mm equivalent of 24-80mm.

Unfortunately, the source has been unable to offer more information, regarding specifications and prices, therefore we will find out more next week.

Stylus SP-100EE, TG-835, and TG-850 compact cameras set for late January launch, too

Olympus will not stop here, as it is planning to reveal three new compact cameras as well.

The trio of Stylus models will be called SP-100EE, TG-835, and TG-850. The first will cost 55,000 yen / about $530, the second will be priced at 33,000 yen / around $315 and the third will be released for 35,000 yen / roughly $335.

Beside their prices, the specs remain unknown to us, although we should not rule out more leaks before January 29.

Olympus E-M10 to take entry-level spot in OM-D series at the end of the month

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the subject, Olympus is rumored to hold a product launch event on January 29. Inside sources have revealed that the company will introduce an entry-level OM-D camera called E-M10.

The Micro Four Thirds shooter will feature a 16-megapixel sensor without Phase Detection AF, True Pic VII image processor, tri-axis image stabilization, and a built-in flash.

The Japan-based manufacturer will allegedly introduce three other lenses for the OM-D series. First comes the 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6, the second is the 25mm f/1.8, while the third is the 9mm f/8 fisheye that will also act as a lens cap.
