Sony will definitely unveil several new lenses for both A-mount and E-mount cameras at Photokina 2014 or prior to the beginning of the world’s largest digital imaging event.

A lot of gossip talks about Sony’s presence at the Photokina 2014 have been spreading on the web for a while. The PlayStation maker is expected to announce new cameras, a new QX-series lens-style camera, as well as multiple new lenses.

As usual, this has been just rumor mill talk with no proof to back up the statements. Eventually, the final proof consists of the products being introduced, so we still have to wait a few more weeks for that.

Nevertheless, inside sources are continuing to leak details and it seems like several new Sony lenses are sure to make an official appearance at this year’s edition of the Photokina.

A multitude of new Sony lenses expected to become official at Photokina 2014

The five Sony FE-mount lenses introduced alongside the A7 and A7R cameras: 28-70mm f3.5-5.6, 70-200mm f/4, 24-70mm f/4, 35mm f/2.8, and 55mm f/1.8. More models are rumored to be revealed at the Photokina 2014.

The development of the Zeiss 16-35mm f/4 lens for Sony FE-mount cameras has already been announced, while the Sony 24-105mm f/4 G lens will certainly be introduced for A-mount cameras soon.

Furthermore, the Japan-based company will introduce the Sony 28-135mm f/4 G OSS lens at the upcoming event. It will be a zoom optic aimed at FE-mount cameras, which is in desperate need of a more complete lens line-up.

Speaking of more FE-mount optics, it appears that cameras, such as the A7, A7R, and A7S, will also get up to five Zeiss optics with manual focus-only support.

Since most people prefer autofocus, it seems like a bright Zeiss lens with a fixed focal length is also in the works. The aperture and focal length are unknown for now, but we can expect something around 50mm with an f/1.4 aperture.

Sony also launching lenses for E-mount cameras with APS-C image sensors

It would seem like the focus is on A-mount and FE-mount optics. However, the report is stating that we may see new Sony E-mount lenses, too.

FE-mount refers to E-mount mirrorless cameras with full frame image sensors. On the other hand, the conventional E-mount series consists of mirrorless cameras with APS-C-sized sensors.

People who have invested in this series will not be forgotten, so the Japanese company is said to be preparing some goodies for them, including a new camera.

Unfortunately, no further details have been provided, meaning that you will have to stay tuned as we will report the news as soon as we get it!
