Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR DX lens photo, price, and release date details revealed

Nikon will introduce a new standard zoom lens soon in the body of the AF-S DX Nikkor 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR. The E-designation comes from the fact that the optic will employ an electromagnetic diaphragm.

Additionally, the ED designation comes from its one or more ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) elements, while the VR represents the built-in Vibration Reduction system, which will provide up to four stops of stabilization.

This optic will employ fluorine and Nano Crystal coatings, while being lightweight. According to the rumor mill, it will be unveiled by the end of the week and it will be released on July 16 in Japan.

Its price tag is allegedly set at 120,000 yen, amounting to about $980. This means that the Nikon 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR DX lens will cost about $900 in the US.

As for the leaked photo, it reveals that the lens will feature a zoom ring, a manual/auto focus switch, and a zoom ring.

Each will have a fluorite element and three ED elements along with an electromagnetic diaphragm. They will be lightweight and they will offer better autofocusing when motion tracking is enabled.

Their VR technology will provide 4-stop stabilization and a Sports mode for photographers shooting action shots. The optics will be announced this week, too, but their release dates are unknown at this point.

Only the price details of the AF-S Nikkor 500mm f/4E FL ED VR have been leaked and it seems like the lens will sell for about 1.16-million yen or $9,475, suggesting that the US price will stand at $9,000.
